Most of the poor women who borrow from microfinance institutions do not have formal education. They might not know how to manage their finances well. We believe that a financially-literate client base is essential for our program to be successful.
Moris Rasik has an ongoing program to provide financial literacy to its clients. Currently the program is supported by the financial assistance from New Zealand Aid in few districts. It is envisaged to expand the coverage of the program to cover all borrowers of MR even after the completion of the New Zealand Aid assistance by integrating within the operations in a sustainable way.
As part of this training, clients are trained on basic numeracy, household cash management and business management.
